Oh! It's a cake!

Katie is far too modest to publish this post, so I will do it for her. She just finished Wilton's 2nd cake decorating course and has this beaut to show for it. The first class was basic decorating, and then this course was borders and flowers.

Look at that basket-weave pattern, eh?

And the pretty flowers...

And the birdies...

It seemed a crime to cut into it, but it was worth it :-) Anyway, Katie seems to have a knack for making these cakes (even her instructor seems to think so) and is quickly becoming quite the decorator. Anyway, the next class focuses on making multi-tiered cakes, so that should be fun. Me and Tyler have been enjoying her newest skill, to say the least :-)

This is so gorgeous!!! I got to see a slice of it, and kind of mourned I didn't get to see the whole thing. Thanks, McKay, for posting it, and yes, she is developing quite the talent!

What a nice husband you have Katie :) That was very sweet of him to show off his talented wifey. The cake looks amazing, and I would like to put an order in for a German chocolate cake with the basketweave frosting please!

Katie Bug! You are amazing! I agree with my twinner... I love a proud husband. After you are done baking Robin's german chocolate cake, I would like to see what you can do with Rainbow Chip frosting. Yes, we eat like 3 year olds over here, but really, is there anything better? :) PS- I am very impressed that you were able to craft such beautiful designs with our inherently short, Eatough, T-Rex arms while being so pregnant. I was barely able to reach the sink to do dishes the last few months. Or so I said... tee hee!
