Introducing...

Jamie Addison Claire Hinckley!

Born June 24, 2010

7lb 3oz, 17 in.

Katie was scheduled to be induced at 7:30am. We dropped off Tyler with Grandma and Grandpa the night before, I took the day off work, and we were up at 6:30 after staying up late getting things ready. We get it, check in, get Katie all set up in a bed, and they start her pitocin to get contractions started. On our way to having a new little baby. 20 minutes in, they inform us of a tiny little previously unmentioned detail- you have to wait 6 hours after eating to get induced.

Since Katie had had a few bites of oatmeal on the way out the door, the doctor decided to send us home to come back the next morning. Fortunately, he ultimately changed his mind and decided to keep us around and resume inducing at 1. Whoo!

3:45 Katie is dilated to a 5-6 and gets her epidural

4:15 Epidural is ready, and she is now fully dilated to a 10

4:36 Pushing begins

4:41 (3 contractions later): Baby!

2 1/2 years ago, Katie spent 2 hours pushing Tyler out, and it has clearly paid off.

Some more of the pretty girl...

We're now in the hospital, Mamma and Baby are both doing so well, and we should be checking out Saturday morning. Speaking of Tyler, he was very unsure what to make of the new baby.

What's more interesting- McFlurry or Baby Jamie? :

McFlurry!

He finally came around, though (albeit spoon still in hand):

Tyler is still trying to understand that "Mamma's Baby" was never just a funny name for "belly button."

Good job Mamma and Baby Jamie!

Keeping Busy!

Here's some of what we've been doing the last few weeks:

Avoiding the heat!

It's SO hot and humid here in the early summer! (Upper 90's and 50%-75% humidity!) Anyone who has lived in it knows it just saps the energy out of you, and when you're only a few weeks away from having a baby, you don't have much to begin with! To stay cool, we play in our pool

as often as we can!

Celebrating

On Memorial Day, we had a BBQ with the rest of the Hinckleys. Tyler and Evelyn got into the patriotic spirit:

To the Lone Star state as well, of course:

Inspecting the sprinklers:

Being Spoiled

At the beginning of the month, my new Relief Society threw me a baby shower, and they were SO generous, we are STOCKED.
This is the closest thing you'll get to a preggo shot this week. I am swollen and puffy and not photogenic, and I'm very close to banning cameras around me until after the baby comes!

Tyler and I especially liked these adorable little silver flats.

Friday will be 39 weeks! As of my last appointment, I am 1.5 centimeters dilated, and I am scheduled to be induced on June 24th, next Thursday. We are so ready to meet this little girl!

Misc Adventures

Katie doesn't have a whole lot of energy for blogging these days, so I just thought I would throw out some gems. The other day we were on our way out the door to church when we discovered that Tyler had been paying close attention to Katie as she was getting ready:

Yes, he managed to do his own application of her eyeshadow (and his eyes are fine- he just squints at the camera sometimes). Really, Bud? Fortunately, I thinking he's moving in a different direction:

Let's just hope he doesn't get carried away, like our good friend George Michael:

It's occurred to me that we don't very often post videos of Tyler so here are a few recent ones just for fun. Here he has discovered what springtime in Texas means. He gets wet on the balcony, and then he is scared by the ants which someone in our house *ahem* invited by pouring a bag of sugar on our little herb pots out there.

Last tidbit here comes from one of Tyler's earlier adventures on the bathroom counter, shortly after we moved in and there was so much to explore. My favorite is the 4 Tylers that seem to be conspiring with each other:

Well, that's all the time I have tonight, which means the video of Tyler doing the Beat It dance will have to wait. It's coming, though. Rest assured it's coming.
