Date Night

McKay surprised me with a fully planned date-night this week. Babysitter included! He's amazing! He wouldn't tell me where we were going:

Me looking bewildered. McKay looking sneaky.

I'd never been before, but Trafalga is a fun little date center in Orem with things like mini-golf, go-karts, an arcade, a 4D movie theater, and a food bar.

We golfed.
I was very bad at it.

We drove Go-Karts.
I look like a maniac.

We ate
some really, really frozen Dippin' Dots.

We played in the arcade
We won 700 tickets and broke two games.

We used those tickets to buy Tyler a bunch of toy cars to make up for abandoning him for a few hours. He promptly chewed them to pieces. We spent a good part of the next day being attacked with car pieces, and being shouted at "Uh-oh! UH-OH!" which means put it back together, pronto. This may be his revenge.

Stroopwafels

While looking through a table of kitchen appliances at a yard sale a few weeks ago, I found a treasure:

A pizzelle iron

My Aunt Judy and Uncle Delbert gave us a stroopwafel (a Dutch cookie) to try last year, and we've been craving them ever since. You make them on pizelle irons, and I finally found one! This is only further proof of the magnificence of yard saling.

McKay whipped up a batch that night:

A marvelously gigantic stack that only lived to see 12 hours.

Caramel filling goodness.

The chef at work.

Tyler's first piece of stroopwafel...

and his second

and third

and his fourth. Not pictured is his tantrum when the fifth was denied.

Scot-Free

I've been dreading this dentist visit for months.

I've had hurty spots in my mouth for a long time, and it's been even longer since we've seen a dentist. I just knew I was going to have 14 cavities and two root canals, and they were going to look at me with disgust and ask me if I even brush my teeth ever, or do I just rub sugar on them?

So when my cute lady dentist pulled her mirror wand out of my mouth, foot-pumped my chair back up and told me the diagnosis, I couldn't believe it:

Sealant on one tooth!

They gave me some Sensodyne and told me I just have sensitive teeth. Heck, I'll take sensitive teeth over my 16 imaginary rotten teeth. I am sore on my gums, because I don't floss correctly. Apparently, the right way to do so is to dig and dig until you cry, and then dig some more until your tooth falls out. I did not know this.

In other news, we hosted Education Week at our house this year. Just kidding, but we did have Kendy, McKay's sister stay with us for the week. McKay's parents were here every second they could be. McKay's dad teaches three classes at Education Week up here at BYU, but I like to think it's just an excuse to fly up here to see Tyler.

An "In Case You Forgot About Texas" present.

Kevin taught in the Marriot Center this year, which is the biggest venue at Education Week. I enjoyed bragging about it.

He was a little nervous.

But he did great. We knew he would.

Hinckleys, Hinckleys and more Hinckleys. And a Cox.

McKay's parents showered us in food. Here's a McFlurry (and a Tyler frantically trying to steal it).

A tower of onion rings at Red Robin.

(Not pictured are visits to J-Dawg's, Noodles N' Company, Little Caesar's, P.F. Chang's, BYU Catering, etc. I am very much looking forward to living close to them again.)

Marie and her two kids, Evelyn and Edison came up for the week as well.

Aunt Kendy had toy cars for both these boys, and it worked for a while, until Tyler decided he wanted both.

Don't be fooled, that's not a hug.

Evenlyn got silly-shy during picture time and took shelter between the couches.

Tyler and Grandpa had a grand time spinning crouquet balls on the coffee table. It reminded me of this:

Which then reminded me of this:

We had a great time with everyone, thanks for coming out to see us on your various trips!

I'm going to go take some Tylenol now.

You Know You're a Mom When...

I watched Toy Story with Tyler yesterday. Later, I was talking to McKay, and I told him I would set my phone from ring to vibrate.

While I was saying that, I was thinking in my head:

"I'm setting my laser from stun to kill."

Tyler thinks I'm crazy.

It might be true.

What new pictures?

After this posts, I will vehemently deny that these pictures were taken recently; I will never admit that these are, in fact, not our real wedding pictures. I wasn't going to blog about it, but I just love these pictures so much, and I need to share them with the world.

Our "real" wedding pictures weren't so great; they kind of sucked, actually. So we decided to redo them, specifically this last month, because:

a) I now have my wedding dress with me

b) I now fit back into it, which may not always be true (though I can hope :-)

c) We won a contest for worst wedding pictures, and the prize was a redo with professional photographers!

Here are some of my favorites:

The rest are here:

You are welcome to look; I've spent so much time looking at them, I'm going to wear out the Walgreen's website.

Where Go?

Tyler has discovered a fun new phrase/game, all rolled into one:

I love that he's got the entire body language of the phrase down: hands up, shoulder shrug, and lips pursed in an "o" sound as far as he can reach them.

Can I Brag for a Minute?

So I know I'm not a Robin or a Kim when it comes to couponing, but I am so stinkin' excited about these:

$1 each at Rite-Aid! Woo! Our house will never be stinky again! The Freshmatic one scares McKay everytime it spritzes lavender goodness in the air.

McKay's internship is coming to a close; tomorrow is his last day. As a thank you for all his work, his bosses gave him a handful of Walmart giftcards. I'm excited! We're going on a walmart.com shopping spree tonight, and we're going to get something awesome.

Also, here's documentation of all the free things we've gotten from Tahitian Noni this summer:

Yes, that is 12 bottles of Noni juice. I think we're set for life.
